Musings of a Mama

Thoughts of a Hair-Brained Mom…

So… now that I am home… A LOT… Dandall has decided to start having service techs come out and fix things that have been falling apart in the house.  Of course, the first priority was the large television in the family room.  We all know the drill… they call and give you a ridiculous “time frame” that they will arrive… usually it is “sometime between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.”.  I got lucky.  My time frame was between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.  Let’s be honest though, it’s not like I had anywhere else to be anyway; I am home with a newborn child!

I actually got a little excited knowing that I would be seeing adults during the day, and not just my sweet, screaming baby girl.  I even put on some lip gloss to try and look presentable.  Then, my next thought was oh my God… what if these service reps are really scary, grimey ex-con types, and I am by myself with the baby, and they try to kidnap her!  Do you see where the title “mad mama” comes in here?

Well, they were two normal, young guys who couldn’t have been nicer, except for the fact that they called me “ma’m”.  Not once, but over, and over, and OVER!  Yes, I realize they were being polite, but when, WHEN I ask, did I become a ma’m?

Yes… I am married.

Yes… I have two children.

Yes… I am look haggard these days and am starting to see laugh lines that scare the living daylights out of me.

Yes… I think I am starting to get gray hair, although I am not really sure, because I dye it so much.  I must confess though to finding a grey eyebrow hair the other day, so this is a good indication.

And YES… (this is the hardest one)… I DO drive a minivan now, after my dear husband coaxed me into one (ugh…)

WHEN and HOW did all of this happen, anyway???

So, I guess if you add all of that up, it makes me a ma’m.

Depressing?  Maybe.  A little.  But if being married with a (most of the time) wonderful husband and two amazing children makes me a ma’m, then I will take that any day over being a “miss”.
