Freaking hillarious!!!
I Have Died… March 9, 2008
And gone to cupcake heaven!
Yesterday, I finally made the long overdue trek out to Retro Bakery. It is pretty much forever away from my house, but I made it, and I am SO glad I did! If you live in Las Vegas, you have GOT to check out the bakery… even if you have to drive as far as I did. Kari and Brian, they know how to make them some cupcakes! Plus, I think they are two of the nicest people I have met, and make an adorable couple! How they both look so great and don’t weigh 500 pounds after working with all of those delectable cupcakes every day, I will never know.
I was going to post pictures, but well, once I got home, a lot of them were devoured too quickly. Mr. Man ate one with skittles and lemon frosting, and well, he pretty much ate only that, and not the cupcake. Dandall ate the “cinnamon toast” cupcake, and took a lot of his frosting off because he isn’t a big fan of frosting (yes… there is something very wrong with him). I ate a “short stack” cupcake, and it was the best cupcake I have ever had. Imagine a cupcake that tastes just like a pancake drenched in yummy syrup, with maple frosting! Oh… and I also ate Dandall’s extra icing, and Mr. Man’s extra cupcake! Can we say full?
Doodle bug also got to share my cupcake though. She is a BIG fan. She actually started to cry when it was gone!
So, thank you Retro Bakery, and I am so glad I finally got to meet you all!
Boys and Bras March 8, 2008
This morning, I am taking a shower, and I step out to find Mr. Man gazing with awe at my bra. He then picks it up, spins it around, and examines it thoroughly. I giggle, and ask him what he is doing. He says “This is so cool. But… I don’t know how it works.”
My response… “Trust me son. Some day, you will know.”
The Most Amazing Picture… March 7, 2008
This seriously wants to make me cry every time I look at it, because it is what I have always wanted… to make beautiful babies who love each-other more than anything in the world. Sometimes I am taken aback at how amazing life really is.
Whenever my brother and I used to fight growing up, my dad would say to us “You had better be nice to each-other, because you are all that you will have left in this world someday!” I always though it was a morbid, silly thing to say, but now it makes total sense to me.
I do feel better, knowing and hoping that whatever happens in this world, Mr. Man and Doodles will always have each-other.
This picture also makes me want to have 20 more babies! Don’t worry Dandall… that will never happen! Maybe just one more, someday though…
The Beauty of Car Insurance February 20, 2008
Okay… so a little more about the accident, because it has been a week, and I am not so stressed about it.
The accident was not my fault, and Doodles and I were not hurt. Thank God. However, my car was. It will be five weeks and $14,000 before I see it again. Hence, the title of this entry. Turns out my minivan is made VERY well, and is designed that the car takes all of the impact in a crash, not the people in it, and that is exactly what happened.
Now that I have a clear head, I can look back on little parts of the ordeal and chuckle. Like the fact that I had a raging sinus infection, and was actually on my way to the doctor, with a fever of 101, when I got hit. I mean, what are the odds?
After the accident, thanks to my dad, I eventually did make it to the doctor. As the nurse was examining me, she was asking me about the accident, and asked what I was driving. I told her a Honda minivan. Complete silence on her end… and mind you, this is my first time meeting her.
After about 3 seconds, she says “Please don’t tell me that you are a soccer mom and you drive a minivan!” Yes… I actually am a soccer mom, and I do drive a minivan. Her next comment was “But you are way too cute and way too cool looking to drive a minivan! I never would have guessed!!!” This comment actually made me feel a bit better, especially since I was feeling SO not cute, and SO not cool, and I assured her that indeed, I do drive a minivan, and even though I was VERY against it at first, I have actually grown to love the ease and space of the thing. After all, it is my vehicle, it’s not who I am for God’s sake!
So… cool, cute, minivan driving mamas (and I know there are many of you because I see you driving every day), unite in my quest for a minivan revolution!!!
Just don’t crash yours, because the outcome ain’t too pretty.
Blogs and Perves February 15, 2008
I have so much yucky stuff that I could be blogging about right now, like how sick I have been, how sick we have all been, how much I miss my brother, the car accident Doodle Bug and I got in… but I am sick of being sick and down, so I am going to blog about something that makes me giggle!
So, on wordpress, apparently, you can see if people have come to your blog by searching for something in particular on Google, or another search engine. It shows the words that they put in for their search, and if their words match something on your blog, it will list your blog as a link.
Well, the other day, I got a hit on my blog for someone who apparently was searching for “cute naked butts” and they reached my blog because of the post about Doodle’s cute naked butt!
Ewwww! I feel so violated, and yet, I found this very funny! And people wonder why I don’t use our real names here…
Blech… February 12, 2008
That is the kind of week I am having.
My laptop, with all of my photos, recipes, addresses, LIFE, etc. DIED. As in DEAD. My only hope is that maybe it is the battery, and it can at lease be salvaged ling enough to pull everything off. I am SAD about this… I tell you! Super sad…
Dandall is gone again, and I am sick AGAIN! I have a very bad sinus infection that after not doing anything about it for a week and a half, has turned into a high fever, olive green snot (I kid you not), and bad intestinal issues. I am dragging my sick butt to the doctor today because I can not be this sick and keep up with two kids. No way!
We have had a lot going on too, but no time.energy to post about it, so hopefully I can work on that later this week.
Yes… We… CAN… February 5, 2008

Tomorrow is a BIG day… if you live in one of the “Super Tuesday” states who can vote tomorrow… DO IT!
Ten on Tuesday: Cake January 30, 2008
This is going to be my new Tuesday ting for now. Ten random lists, pictures, thoughts, etc. on Tuesdays, until I get sick of it, or have nothing left to say!
Retro Bakery and their soon to be opening store have me hungry for cupcakes today, or really just cake in general. So, here are my top 10 faves…
10. Red Velvet Cake. I don’t love the flavor per say, but I love the color!
9. Carrot Cake. Love me some good carrot cake, but some people put too many nuts in theirs, and I don’t like that!
8. White trash, white grocery store cake, with really sugary icing. I hate whipped cream icing… blech!
7. Poppy Seed Cake. My mom makes the best, and even thought I have her recipe… mine never tastes the same.
6. My grandma use to make a cake… I don’t even know if it had a name, but it was a yellow layer cake with grape jelly and whip cream filling. I don’t like grape jelly, but she made hers, and is was delicious! I also don’t like whip cream, but she made that too, and again… so good. Mmmm… I can taste that cake!
5. Again… this is a family recipe. It is a chocolate cake, with chocolate chips in it, and chocolate icing. Sooooo good. The recipe is from my great Aunt Stella, who my mom says was a downright nasty lady, but she sure could bake!
4. Another chocolate fave… Chocolate Covered Cherry Cake. Enough said.
3. Ooey Gooey Butter Cake. This is so darned good, and sickeningly sweet. I think that is why I love it so much.
2. Pineapple Upside Down Cake. I have a love/hate relationship with this cake. Why? Well, my grandma used to make it for me on my birthday, and it was so yummy. It is also Dandall’s favorite cake, when his mom makes it, and hers is phenomenal. However, I hate it because my grandma doesn’t have her recipe anymore, and Dandall’s mom refuses to share hers. She says it is “basically” the same recipe from the boxed cake mix, but it SO isn’t. Therefore, I am on a search for the perfect recipe, and I am sad to say that I have not found it yet.
1. Honey Bun Cake. Yes… it tastes just like a cinnamon bun, but even better! I don’t know if I could call it my all-time favorite, but it is definitely one of them, and I have been craving it! Since my mouth is watering, I may have to make it today, and of course, I’ll share the recipe with you!
Honey Bun Cake
- yellow cake mix
- 3/4 cup vegetable oil
- 4 eggs
- 1 (8 ounce) container sour cream
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 2 cups confectioners’ sugar
- 4 tablespoons milk
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- In a large mixing bowl, combine cake mix, oil, eggs and sour cream. Stir by hand approximately 50 strokes, or until most large lumps are gone. Pour half of the batter into an ungreased 9×13 inch glass baking dish. Combine the brown sugar and cinnamon, and sprinkle over the batter in the cake pan. Spoon the other half of the batter into the cake pan, covering the brown sugar and cinnamon. Twirl the cake with a butter knife or icing knife until it looks like a honey bun (or whatever design you want to make).
- Bake in preheated oven for 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Frost cake while it is still fairly hot. Serve warm.
- To Make the frosting: In a small bowl, whisk together the confectioner’s sugar, milk and vanilla until smooth. You will probably have extra frosting left over.
